Announcements from The Adams County Democratic Committee

June 7, 2025

Forum on Racism: “Whiteness” – Thursday Evening, June 12, 6:30 PM at Democratic Headquarters, 24 Chambersburg Street – Call Headquarters at 717-337-5285 to RSVP so that we may plan for attendance.
Join us for a discussion on the history of “Race,” and the unique responsibilities the dominant culture must bear to create a just society. This conversation will center around the opportunities we have in America, and topics of anti-racism.

Rallies for the People – There will be rallies on Saturday, June 7th and Saturday, June 14th and Saturday, June 28th.

THERE WILL BE NO RALLY ON SATURDAY, JUNE 21ST, as that is our annual Democratic Committee volunteer appreciation picnic.

We will collect donations of canned or packaged foods and toiletry/hygiene items at rallies to be donated to SCCAP.  Bring a donated item and leave it in the box or bin at our table by ACNB Bank.  More and more of our neighbors will be hurting in weeks and months to come, so those of us who can help will be greatly appreciated.

REMEMBER THAT THIS IS A FAMILY-FRIENDLY, PEACEFUL AND NON-CONFRONTATIONAL EVENT!

Do not engage with the opposing side, do not respond to taunts or insults – we must be better than that.

Do not block any business or sidewalk or cross-walk!

Do not stand in the street (that includes in front of the parklet) – only on the sidewalks.

All signs must be positive – no threats or profanity.

It’s up to us to protect our right to rally, and we thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Annual Tim Diehl Memorial Barbeque – Saturday, June 21st.

We have some spaces available for guests at a minimal cost of $10.  Please reply to this message if you would like to attend.

From 1 to 3 PM at beautiful Beech Springs Farm in Orrtanna, we’ll gather for food, fellowship, and even fun.

Attendance is limited to 100, so please reply quickly!

We’ll be using Boneyard Barbeque for the catering – people really enjoy their food – with enough options for our vegetarian friends.

The Candidate Cookie Contest will provide dessert and the only fund-raising part of the day.  You’ll vote with dollars for your favorite cookie, as brought by the candidates – preferably homemade!

State and local candidates are invited.

Election Results – There are two prominent races where write-in votes came into play in this election.  For Mayor of Gettysburg, Chad-Alan Carr is the duly-elected Democratic candidate.  Rita Frealing, who is a registered Democrat, did not prevail in the Democratic Primary, but she received enough write-in votes by Republican voters to appear as their candidate on the November ballot.

Adams County Democratic Committee will support the duly-elected Democratic candidate, Chad-Alan Carr.

For county judge, there was no Democratic candidate on the ballot, but Republican Paul Royer obtained enough Democratic signatures on nominating petitions to appear on the Democratic Primary ballot.  Mr. Royer is NOT a Democrat, and so Adams County Democratic Committee will not support his candidacy in the General Election.

Of course, every voter is entitled to vote for the candidate of their choice, but our role as the county committee is to support registered and duly-elected Democratic candidates.
