As the May 20 primary election approaches, Gettysburg Connection extends its sincere appreciation to the individuals who have stepped forward to run for public office in Adams County.
A total of 289 candidates—78 Democrats and 211 Republicans—are appearing on the ballot across a wide range of local offices. These races include school director, township supervisor, borough council member, magisterial district judge, and countywide positions, including sheriff, clerk of courts, and treasurer. A substantial number of candidates are also vying for positions as judges and inspectors of elections.
The most visible contests leading up to the primary are those for county sheriff, Gettysburg mayor, and school boards, with 34 candidates running across the 6 public school districts. A particular thanks to the latter who are running for boards that have been under intense public scrutiny and which face difficult decisions in the years ahead. These individuals are demonstrate a deep commitment to community service by offering us all their time and energy for the next four years to help to shape the future of public education.

The deadline to register to vote was May 5, but all registered voters are encouraged to participate in the May 20 primary. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m to 8:00 p.m.
